HIPS
HIPS is high-impact polystyrene. Here it is offered as a support material that carries the geometry during printing and is then removed.

Typical applications
Soluble supports for suitable multi-material processes and manufacturing aids for complex overhangs and cavities.
Why HIPS?
HIPS adds a selectively soluble support structure to the printing of complex geometries. It also responds well to mechanical processing.
Performance profile
- Tensile stress at yield
- up to 22 MPa
- Elongation at break
- up to 50 %
- Tensile modulus
- up to 1,550 MPa
- Density
- 1.04 g/cm³
Ideas for your application
Technical model making, functional prototypes and multi-material manufacturing.
Surface and appearance
A matt surface. The support structure is removed after printing.
Designing your part to fit
Solvent access and drainage paths are planned for cavities. The main geometry must remain sufficiently stable during removal.
Finishing and post-processing
Mechanical removal and dissolution in a suitable limonene medium are possible. Compatibility with the model material determines the process.
